 This category, “Place Value,” includes posts with videos, games and activities to help your child practice Place Value.

Goal: To have your child understand that TEEN numbers have TENS and ONES.  The Kindergarten goal is to have children understand place value for numbers 0-20, but please feel free to move on if your child has confidently mastered the teens.

Vocabulary: tens, ones, group
Example 1: “17 has a group of TEN and 7 extra ONES.”  You have to group 10 ones together to make a 10.
Example 2: “We know that 17 is a group of 10 and 7 extra ones.  So we know that 10 + 7 = 17
